A video has been created as part of a collaborative of twin cities wide SHIP and the Market Bucks program. The program can be confusing, but it can help people stretch their budget and get more fresh, locally produced.
Market Bucks(MB) Program overview
- WHO: For people receiving SNAP in Minnesota
- WHAT: Use $10 SNAP, get $10 Market Bucks + $10 Produce Market Bucks = $30 to spend on SNAP eligible foods/produce at the market.
- WHEN: When farmers markets are open (depends on the market). Some are available year round.
- WHERE: Only at participating farmers markets
- WHY? To help SNAP customers get more fresh food at the farmers market, and support our local farmers.
- HOW: Ideas below. Be sure to include the link to the video when sending information out.
- Other: It’s a MN program only, run by The Food Group (used to be Hunger Solutions, but they merged recently), with state and federal funding
