Exciting news from Neighborhood House! We are thrilled to announce that Nick Contreraz is now our newest Vice President of Programs. Nick, who previously served as the Director of Advancement, brings over two years of dedicated service to our organization.
Nick’s commitment to our mission, exceptional communication skills, leadership experience, shared values, and a wealth of professional and personal experiences in basic needs and education make him an ideal fit for this role.
Hailing from a large family in Montana, Nick takes pride in being Mexican American. Nick was immersed in a culture where “taking care of your neighbor” was not just a value but a way of life. As a first-generation college graduate Nick’s journey reflects his determination and resilience.
Nick’s early experiences of utilizing services similar to those provided by Neighborhood House have fueled his passion for social justice. With 17 years of educational experience as a classroom teacher, department head, and academic dean, Nick played a key role in shaping the culture and academic programs at Cristo Rey Jesuit High School in South Minneapolis. As a founding faculty member, he worked tirelessly to address achievement and opportunity gaps, guiding students toward academic success and high school graduation.
Beyond his role at Neighborhood House, Nick is actively involved in the Greater Minneapolis Council of Churches (GMCC) board, where he contributes to initiatives providing access to food and meaningful youth programming. His dedication to serving the community aligns seamlessly with our values at Neighborhood House.
Join us in welcoming Nick Contreraz as our Vice President of Programs, as we look forward to his continued contributions to our mission of making a positive impact in the lives of individuals and families in our community.
