On September 22, the House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed a bill updating the nation’s landmark federal juvenile justice law, the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act. With an emphasis on education, mental health treatment, and trauma-informed care – the JJDPA sets standards and protections for youth in state juvenile justice programs. Now it’s time for the Senate to pass its own bipartisan bill for fairer youth justice.
