Neighborhood House has supported immigrants on St. Paul’s West Side and throughout the Twin Cities for over 128 years. From our origins as a settlement house for Jewish refugees fleeing persecution, we have evolved into meeting basic needs and providing education where we continue to serve new Americans. We will always be here for people seeking the stability, support, and safety to step boldly into a new future.
Our organization is rooted in generations of immigrants who view Neighborhood House as home—who’ve returned to volunteer and work here because they remember that Neighborhood House helped their families when they needed it most.
We believe everyone deserves to feel safe and celebrated in our shared community. Our message to immigrants is that our neighborhoods are stronger and richer because of your cultural strengths and contributions. Your determination and joy enrich our community.
In a time when the highest levels of government seek to dehumanize immigrants, we stand with you. When funding that keeps families fed and sheltered is cut, we stand with you. When ICE targets our neighbors to stoke fear and division, we stand with you.
Our vision is hope, opportunity and dignity for all. You are welcome here.
Community Impact
In January 2026, Neighborhood House launched a strategic emergency response program to support families across the Saint Paul area who were unable to leave their homes due to Operation Metro Surge. With the help of more than 150 volunteers and community partners like Lavamos, Beautiful Laundrette, El Burrito Mercado, and Mo’s Tropical Wholesale & Deli, culturally specific food packs and basic needs items were delivered to more than 600 families, ensuring they received not only nourishment but comfort and dignity during a challenging time.
From January to July, neighbors continued to show up for each other in extraordinary ways, from continuously volunteering to pack and deliver groceries to hosting community drives and fundraisers and making generous donations to support Minnesota families. These efforts made our work possible.
Neighborhood House has supported immigrants on St. Paul’s West Side and throughout the Twin Cities for over 128 years, and we will continue to show up for people seeking stability, support, and safety. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this important work and for standing with neighbors when it mattered most.
