In Laos, the Hmong New Year was an annual gathering to celebrate the end of the harvest season. Villagers would come together in their finest Hmong clothing to feast, dance, and spend time with friends and family. The New Year is a special time for romance, and many couples would engage in courtship through the traditional game of pov pob.
The Hmong New Year is a time to shed the misfortunes of the past year, and embrace the hope and opportunity of a new beginning. We hope you will join us for a night of celebration and community as we welcome the New Year with Hmong cuisine, performances by traditional musicians and dancers, and so much more! This event is free to attend.
