
This past week, Neighborhood House participated in two legislative “days on the hill” to advocate for causes central to our work in the community. Staff, participants, and volunteers spent a day at the capital speaking with their representatives to generate dialogue around two upcoming priorities:
Increasing MFIP Cash Assistance by $100 per month (SF 806)
The Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) provides basic economic assistance for children and their parents working toward full-time paid employment. MFIP cash assistance for a family of three is a maximum of $532 per month, this has remained unchanged since 1986. Many families on MFIP still come to Neighborhood House facing hunger and homelessness.
Good Food Access Bill (SF 1024)
Provides financial support to promote healthy food access throughout MN.
